2013 Resolutions

Do one thing a day that genuinely makes me happy. You can call it my own little happiness project. It’s so easy to get caught up  in the little things in life when each day is a gift. I sometimes tend to look at the glass half empty instead of half full, and I want to do one thing a day that makes me feel alive.

Book another life changing vacation. By the end of 2013, I resolve to have booked a trip to Europe. The month I spent in Europe was easily the best 4 weeks of my life. I started to really discover the person I was, and I’ve been dreaming of going back ever since. Although I don’t have the courage to quit my job and live abroad (yet), I can still travel the world. And I will :)

Respect and love myself. Without going into too much detail, 2012 has been a year where I continue to discover who I truly am. It was the first year I was single for 12 months straight, and my first year being single after 5 years with the same guy. I learned a lot. I made mistakes. I realized what I’m looking for in a friend, a colleague, and a partner. I realized that you have to respect and love yourself before anyone can love you.

Lose weight. It’s cliché, I know. But I have made so much progress in the last year, I’m down 20 pounds from where I was at this point last year and I still have a-ways to go, but I want to lose another 20 by January 2014. I want to take Weight Watchers seriously, and really start eating the right foods that will fuel my body.

Do one active thing a day. Whether it’s going for a walk with my friends, playing tennis with my family, or just doing crunches in my bedroom – I want to do something active that strengthens my body every single day.

Drink more water and less soda. I’m not a big coffee person and I hate tea, so I always count on Diet Coke for my daily source of caffeine. I really want to slow down on the Diet Cokes (well, I don’t want to – but I probably should. 2 extra large Diet Cokes with breakfast & lunch aren’t doing me any favors…) and I don’t drink nearly enough water, sooo time to make some changes!

Be more organized in all aspects of life. Life is so much better when everything is organized. The feeling of a clean room, a manageable workload, and a spotless apartment is like no other. I need to get off my ass and keep things clean!

At the end of 2013, I don’t want to look back with any regrets. I want to be out of my comfort zone and take chances. I want to do something completely out of the norm, something I would never do, and just dive in headfirst. I want to live young and wild and most importantly, free.

(Thanks for the motivation, Wiz.)

Great goals. My goals are to be more disciplined, and drink more water!

I definitely need to get better at the whole water thing, I don’t drink nearly enough!

These are some great resolutions. I really like the life changing trip idea. New Years resolutions don’t have to be just about living a healthier lifestyle. Taking vacations and finding happiness are important too! I’m not good at goal setting at all, so I’m just trying to find that healthy balance this year.

I’m not really good at resolutions either unless I REALLY care about them. I want to be happy, I want to travel, and I want to try to live a healthier lifestyle, but the first two are primary for me. I know if I really care about something, nothing will stop me from accomplishing it :)

Great goals, Sarah! I especially love the one about doing something daily that makes you happy! I gave up Diet Coke completely at the start of 2012 and it was the best thing I could have done! Hope your 2013 is off to a fab start :) !

AHHH I may have to email you to determine how you got away from Diet Crack.. I mean Diet Coke ;) If I don’t have a can once a day I am NOT happy.

love your goals for the year – they are not only realistic, but so beneficial and healthy. I especially love the do one thing a day that makes you happy; I think we all take things for granted and get caught up in the “petty musings” of the day. Having that goal will be the perfect reminder to look for the good in everything, to stay grounded & thankful. Happy 2013 girl!

I love how you put that, get caught up in the “petty musings”. It’s SO true. When you take a step back and look at the big picture, the “big things” don’t ever seem so big. It’s more important on finding what makes me happy – and DOING IT!

These are great goals! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you too Emily! 2012 was awesome for you, can’t wait to see what 2013 brings! :)

I like your resolutions! I’m glad you’re putting life experiences like Europe and self love at top priorities in 2013. Also are you tipsy in the pic where you’re making the peace sign? Because peace signs are my go to move when I drink.

    • January 4, 2013 9:33 am

Ahhh TWINS. Peace signs are always my “go to” move, so simple yet so classic ;)

I also decided I wanted to be more organized in 2013! Funny how we came up with the same goal all on our own (I didn’t read this post until after I made it one of my goals). Best of luck to you reaching all of your goals this year!

I like the daily ones, this is great!! Also, I did the no soda in 2012 last year, and it was pretty fantastic. And admittedly, on NY day, I had a soda…. but there’s no real need for them now. So I FULLY support that one.
