Friday afternoon I skipped out of work about 15 minutes early to beat the traffic home. I quickly packed my bag for the night, hailed a cab, and I was on my way to Dani’s house. What was the occasion? We had tickets to the AVICII concert that night at the TD Garden!!
In case you’ve never heard of him, AVICII is a Swedish DJ and record producer specializing in electronic dance music. Some songs you may know are Levels, Sunshine (recorded with David Guetta), and Bromance. I wasn’t big into EDM or house music until I went to Europe last summer. Since becoming a fan of electronic dance music, I’ve been dying to go to a music festival! Unfortunately I’ve had a conflict with every festival that’s come up so when I saw that AVICII was coming to Boston I jumped on the tickets before they were sold out.
After work Dani and I met up at her apartment to have a few drinks with one of our other friend’s Amanda and figure out what on earth we were going to wear! Another thing I love about house music concerts is that if it ain’t neon, it shouldn’t be on.
The minute we arrived at the Garden we saw a line out the door full of other neon-wearing AVICII loving ravers. I was in heaven :) We had arrived to the Garden a little later than we wanted so we missed the first opening DJ. The second DJ was good, but I don’t remember much because I was so excited for AVICII!
Once the lights went down, the crowd went wild and the glowsticks came out. We were ready to rage!
To say I had a good time is an understatement. AVICII put on the best performance I’ve ever seen, hands down. The music, the lights, the atmosphere, the people, it was by far the best night I’ve had in Boston and one of the best nights of my life!
The rest of the weekend was extremely low key. I spent all day Saturday
in the fetal position catching up on Grey’s Anatomy. **SPOILER ALERT** I cannot believe they killed off Lexie in the finale!!!
I went to bed early Saturday night and woke up Sunday morning feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. After eating some peanut M&M’s for breakfast (woops) I decided I couldn’t stay inside any longer. I hit the gym and then went for a walk around Boston. I’ll tell you one thing, there’s nothing I love more than a beautiful summer day up here in the Northeast.
Now I’m off to the office for the day. I have about 20 reports with my name on it and a conference call at 2:30. Ohhhh sometimes I get a good feeling (that I’m going to have a looooong day ;)). At least today marks exactly 15 days until I visit Kim in DC for the 4th of July! Let the countdown begin…
Happy Monday!! :)
