The Ultimate Bachelor/Bachelorette Drinking Game

For the past six months, my Mondays have consisted of watching other people fall in love. I spend hours watching romantic, yet unrealistic dates that consist of traveling to Thailand or helicopter rides over mountain ranges at sunset, and I pity my much more pathetic (and basically nonexistent) love life. I realized that in order to make it through this somewhat depressing, yet addicting show, I’d need a bottle – or three – of something stronger than H2O.

Then, ABC did something incredible. It created Bachelor in Paradise and it makes The Bachelor look like a snoozefest. Drama, dates, crying over the same guy – it might sound like your typical Bachelor episode, but in reality it’s so much more than that.

So stock up on a few bottles of wine, because your Monday nights are about to get much more interesting.

Take a sip anytime someone says…

This could be the person that I’m going to marry!

I really want to be here.

I can’t believe I’m in this beautiful location with the man of my dreams!

Guys, there’s a date card! Cue obnoxious squealing.

I just want to find love.

I’m so nervous about the rose ceremony tonight.

If she pulls him aside I’m going to say something. She already has a rose!

I’m not here to make friends.

I couldn’t imagine a more perfect person to have brought on this date with me.

It’s okay.

It’s nothing you’ve ever seen on The Bachelor before!

I just really want to spend more time with her.

He’s not even here for the right reasons!

This is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make.

I can really picture myself spending the rest of my life with her.

Chug your drink anytime someone…

Cries over a man they’ve known a week.

Talks shit.

Makes out in an ocean.

Takes off their shirt.

Actually eats the food in font of them (don’t hold your breath).

Gets in a hot tub.

Gets drunk.

Confesses they’re “falling in love” before the finale.

Finish your drink anytime these words are used:

Journey, adventure, fairy tale, experience.

Please drink responsibly.*

You’re welcome everyone.

Wanderlust Bucket List – 10 Countries, 5 Years

It’s been exactly 400 days since I last left the country. 400 days since I last needed my passport to travel somewhere outside the US of A. 400 days since I landed in a country where I didn’t speak the language, didn’t know where I was going, and couldn’t wait to immerse myself into the culture.

Four hundred days - it feels like it’s been an eternity.

In the meantime, I’ve moved to Florida, adopted a puppy, and traveled across the country (several times). It’s safe to say life hasn’t been boring. But you would think that as time continues to pass, it would get easier to fall back into the mundane day to day routine of life.

It’s not.

The more time that passes, the more that the itch that started out as a tiny little bump on my arm has grown into a full body rash, and I can’t stop scratching.

In 2012, I made a promise to myself that I would travel somewhere abroad once a year (passports required). I swore I would throw a dart at a map if I had to, and travel to wherever it landed. I swore to myself that I’d be adventurous and not let “life” get in the way of life. Traveling is the one of the few things in this world that makes me feel alive. It encourages me to be a better person, allows me to discover myself, and forces me to look up from my iPhone and appreciate the beauty the world has to offer.

But – I did the one thing I swore I wouldn’t do. I let life get in the way, and here I am – 25 years old – full of wanderlust with so many places I want to go, and so little time. I feel like 20-somethings are encouraged to travel the world when they graduate from college and “find themselves”, and I agree. However, how many 20-somethings do you know that can afford to travel at their leisure? I sure as hell couldn’t. I (thankfully) took way too much loan money out my last semester and cashed in my entire savings and used it to book a month long trip to Europe.

Do I regret? Absolutely not. Worth every single penny.

So now, when I’m actually able to afford the trips I want to take, I’m looked at like a “crazy 20-something” who needs to “settle down”.

Thanks, but no thanks.

There are so many countries to see, people I have yet to meet, cities I have yet to fall in love with. I’ve got sunsets to watch, continents to travel to, and hemispheres to visit. And I’d like to do it by the time I’m 30.

So here’s my wanderlust bucket list, if we have to give it a title. A list of 10 countries I want to visit in the next 5 years. With 3 weeks of vacation, it seems unlikely – but you’ll never know if you don’t try!

Am I right?

Why? Barcelona, Madrid, Ibiza, Seville, Valencia – Spain has it all. Culture, history, and an awesome party island with the best house music around.

Why? The breathtaking beaches, the beautiful temples, the exotic foods – there is nothing about this country that doesn’t excite me. Wait – I take that back – I could do without the cockroaches.

Why? Because I’ve always wanted to, and it doesn’t hurt that I have a thing for Australian accents. HEY BOYS!

New Zealand

Why? Up until a few months ago, I had no desire to visit New Zealand. Silly me. I have a few friends who recently moved over there, and once I started googling the country, I immediately put it to the top of my bucket list. Queenstown, Auckland, Dunedin, the Bay of Islands – the list could go on and on. Extreme sports ranging from bungee jumping to sky diving, hot air balloons at sunrise to climbing to the top of a glacier – it has everything I could want and more.

Why? Although I’ve already been to the Italy “tourist hot spots” Venice, Florence, and Rome, Cinque Terre has always held a special place in my heart. This magical looking town overlooks one of the most beautiful bodies of water I’ve ever seen. I’ve got to visit at least once in my life.

Why? One word: Tomorrowland.

Why? The beautiful white sand beaches, the crystal blue water, the gorgeous terrain in the distance – need I say more?

Why? Although my parents would probably kill me, and have actually said “you are NOT going there”, I’ve always wanted to travel up and down the Nile in Egypt. The civil unrest doesn’t deter me, and I would give anything to see the pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.

Why? Castles. Beer. Irish men. That’s all.

Why? I’ve been fascinated with Russia and the KGB since I first fell in love with the history of spying. It would be awesome to go visit a place with so much history, and so many beautiful sites. As long as it’s in summer.

So, who wants to join me?

I used to love doing “Day In The Life” posts, but when I started snapping pictures every hour yesterday I realized every single one of them was the same.

Sitting at my desk. Still sitting at my desk. Grabbing a glass water and then heading back to my desk. Oh, it’s noon so time to send the girls to boob jail (sorry kids, no pictures of THAT) in case I decide I want to go to the gym or get Chipotle. (9 times out of 10 the only reason I’m putting a bra on is to go to Chipotle – too much effort for the gym.)*

Anyways, it was boring. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Instead, I thought I’d do a “Currently” survey I saw floating around a couple months ago.

Current Outfit:

Well this is awkward, but a tank top and boxer shorts and I’M NOT EVEN SORRY ABOUT IT. At least I’m wearing pants… OH the perks of working from home.

Current book:

Lonely Planet’s New Zealand guidebook… :) Stay tuned for more details! I can’t wait to share them with you!

Current Favorite Show:

Honestly, Bachelor in Paradise and Finding Carter are my two favorite shows on TV right now. Yes, a “reality” show full of hookups and an MTV show. TRUST ME. If you don’t like the Bachelor franchise, fine. Go ahead and skip Bachelor in Paradise. But do yourself a favor and go watch Finding Carter from the beginning. It is SO GOOD.

Current Music:

Afrojack’s Take Over Control.

Current Guilty Pleasure:

Snuggling with this guy whenever possible. My poor baby, you can still see his road rash on his nose and chin!

Current Food:

Chipotle. The answer is always Chipotle.

Current Indulgence:

Dessert. I was born without a sweet tooth, but lately all I want is to have ice cream for dinner. Is that so wrong? If it is, I don’t want to be right.

Current Drink:

If you asked me two weeks ago I would have said Diet Coke, but today marks exactly 14 days since I had my last DC! Instead, Spark it is. Not only does it get me to drink more water, but it fills me up so I’m full after eggs for breakfast (trust me, that never happens for me).

Current Needs:

A pedicure. Stat.

Current Nail Color:

Essie’s “She’s Pampered” but I think I’m about to make the switch to “Naughty Nautical” for the weekend. Work hard, play hard?

Current Blessing:

Buddy. My family. My friends. My life. I’m so, so fortunate and thankful to have the people I do surrounding and supporting me.

Current Travel Plans:

Well, funny you should ask that Mr. Survey! I hinted to my travel plans this Spring above, but these next six months I have a lot in store for y’all. I’ll be in Providence and Boston next week for work, Vegas at the end of the month for Labor Day Weekend (!!!), Gainesville and Tallahassee in September, Washington DC in October to visit a certain BFF, (hopefully) Dallas in January for my second National Championship game (LET’S GO NOLES!), and a big adventure in February/March.

WHEW! Buckle up and hold on tight, it’s going to be a wild ride!

And now I’m currently off to finish a few reports before grabbing a quick lunch and counting down the hours to Friday at 5.

See ya tomorrow!

*To clarify: I work from home. I do not go to the office without a bra on.

Because You Deserve It

Lately I feel as if I’ve been struggling. I’m not unhappy, I’m not sad, but I’m… content. While most people may crave that feeling, it scares me. I’m so petrified of losing myself and my adventurousness that I become impulsive when I feel content, or – for a better word – trapped.

These days I’ve been spread so thin to the point where I’m not giving anything 100%, which is causing me to fail at things I should be giving my all. I’ve been moody, grumpy, and short with my family at home. I’ve been neglecting my best friends because I can’t seem to find a spare second to myself, and the rare occasions where I do I selfishly want to keep it.

I’ve been a mediocre worker and an even worse blogger. And slowly, I feel like I’m drowning under the piles of “stuff” that continue to pile up. I don’t know if I’m bored, or craving another adventure to look forward to, but whatever it is – I need to snap out of it. I need to not take everything so seriously and stop being so hard on myself. I need to live in the moment, live in the now – and appreciate every second of it.

And so should you.

When you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, whether it’s due to personal or professional reasons – take a step back, because you deserve it.

Go for a walk and feel the sunshine on your arms.

Take an extra long lunch.

Appreciate yourself, and what you’ve accomplished.

Splurge on something you’ve been dying to have.

Treat yourself to a fancy dinner.

Have a cocktail (or three).

Leave your phone behind and soak in the moment.

Plan a dream future, and figure out how to make it a reality.

Ride a bike.

Watch the sunset.

Love yourself.

Because you, my friend, deserve it.

Photo Friday {17}

I can’t believe it’s August already! Where has the time gone? I’m a few months shy of my one year anniversary back in Florida and it feels like just yesterday I was living in Boston. August is going to be a crazy month for me full of business trips back to the Northeast, a wedding of a close family friend, and an end of the month trip to Vegas for Labor Day Weekend. I can’t wait!

These few days have been emotionally draining to say the least, but this past weekend was full of rest and relaxation, exactly what I needed. My parents are heading out of town to pack up my sister’s belongings in Alabama while she stays down here and works, and I’m looking forward to some sister bonding time by the pool.

Have a great weekend everyone!
